A Life of Gratitude

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I started to consider what it really means to live “A Life of Gratitude”. [nbsp_tc]I don’t keep a Gratitude Journal, nor do I open my eyes each morning and offer thanks for the opportunity a new day presents. [nbsp_tc]In truth, it’s not something that registers consciously on my radar very often. [nbsp_tc]Does this mean I’m not a grateful person o A Life of Gratitude - Life Purposer that I take the good things in my life for granted? [nbsp_tc]I didn’t believe that was the case, but it gave me pause. [nbsp_tc]So, I decided to do a little research.

There is a significant amount of science out there related to the myriad psychological, physical, and social benefits that gratitude contributes to one’s life; and even more “How-To” articles dedicated to increasing your gratitude quotient.

Life’s Most Valuable Lesson

I have to admit that I am not extremely well-versed in the realm of social media. In truth, I’m a very private person who has always loathed the over-sharing that lends itself to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Yet, here I am… tasked with writing my first blog because, in my infinite wisdom, I’ve chosen to make a major mid-life career transition.

Discover Your PurposeWho would ever believe that my driven, workaholic self would walk away from a career that I had painstakingly invested nearly 20 years of my life into. And it was painstaking. I didn’t walk into the C-Suite, I worked my way up from the bottom and paid plenty of dues along the way. But finally, I was where I wanted to be… I had the corner office, a great salary, a reputation in my industry, and the power to call the shots. I was so immersed in my work that I never even realized I wasn’t happy… and then I went to Paris on vacation for two weeks.
